I love picking clothing and accessories for a photoshoot. And choosing the site and looking for the best light is super fun as well. I don’t love being in front of the camera! I find the whole process of posing and having pictures taken of myself very awkward!
But is a blogger with no pictures even a blogger at all?! With Facebook and Instagram algorithms looking for faces, a picture without me in it just doesn’t perform! So here I am– awkward as can be–posing for blog pictures!
Here I go! Doing it for the ‘Gram!
Outfit Inspiration
The Dress
I found this white dress at Anthropologie and just had to have it! The dress came first, and then I styled the rest of the outfit around it!
I ordered the dress online, so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect! When it came in, it fit in my normal size. It looked just like the picture, but I was a little surprised by how heavy it is! It looked like light cotton online, but it’s actually kind of stretchy and fully lined! The stretch makes it extra comfy!
The Accessories
I had been eyeing the Lack of Color hats on Show Me Your Mumu and at Main Attire in Batesville, AR for a while! When I walked into Main Attire and saw this dusty pink one, I immediately thought of my new white dress and had to have it too!
I matched it with my trusty Seychelles Shoes block heel sandals. I love Seychelles Shoes! They’re adorable, but, most importantly, they’re comfortable!
For the finishing touches, I added some Lucky Brand bee jewelry I picked up at TJ Maxx and my trusty bug ring from Fossil!
I think this outfit would be adorable with a woven bag! And if you’re not a hat person, you could switch it out for a cute headband or scarf!
Where to Wear
The outfit ended up being kind of fun and romantic! I think you could wear it in spring or summer for anything a little special! I would wear it to a Brunch Party! It could be great for all you brides out there!

Tips for Choosing a Photographer
Choosing the right photographer is the most important part of getting great pictures! You need someone that you feel safe and comfortable with and someone that creates the kind of pictures you want! Here are my top 3 tips!
1. Look at their style!
2. Read reviews!
3. Have a phone call or meeting!
Look at your photographer’s portfolio and social media to see if you like their photos and fit in with your personal style and aesthetic! You don’t want to pick a moody photographer if you’re looking for bright and airy photos! Don’t try to book a landscape photographer for portraits!
Read through reviews! Find out if clients enjoy working with the photographer and if they’re a responsible artist! You don’t want to book a photographer that will lose your pictures or reschedule 1,000 times! Reading reviews will tell you if the photographer is professional and if going to a site with them is safe!
Ask if the photographer will set up a phone call or meeting with you! Find out if you feel comfortable around them! Having photographs taken is very personal, so make sure you jive with the artist!
My Photographer
My friend Destiny Bramlett has been taking photographs for a few years now! She’s still learning and building her clientele and portfolio, but she has gotten so good!
I love working with Destiny because she makes me feel comfortable! She’s extremely patient and walks me through posing since I’m new to it. She works with me to take flattering shots I actually like!
