Wedding Gifting

Hostess Gift Salsa

This is the third installment in my wedding gift-giving series!

As a bride, I loved all the gift-giving I got to do during the wedding planning process, but coming up with all those gift ideas can be hard! I hope this helps all the other brides come up with some ideas without stress!

Choosing the Gift

Hostess Gifts

When I found out that some of the women in our church had decided to host a bridal shower for us, I knew exactly what I wanted to give them.

They love my mom’s salsa, so I knew I wanted to make them some. And I wanted to package it all up super cute for them.

What was in the gift?

Hostess Gift for Bridal Shower Hostesses

So what was in the gift?

First, I started with homemade salsa! I’ll give you the recipe later in the post!

I packaged the salsa in 12.5-ounce glass Weck jars.

I love these jars and use them all the time! I thought that if I loved them, my hostesses might also love them.

You can store food in them, and they’re adorable in your refrigerator or pantry. But they’re also cute enough to put right on the table or on a charcuterie board to serve guests. They’re also reusable, stackable, dishwasher, freezer, and microwave safe!

I ordered these from Williams Sonoma and couldn’t find the exact match on Amazon, but I will link some similar options below!

I put some cute suckers (from Williams Sonoma) in there for color.

I also added a cute little wooden spoon for serving. Like the wooden jars, the hostesses could keep and reuse these later.

Of course, I included a bag of chips to eat the salsa with!

While the salsa was the star of the show, I wanted to include one more thing the hostesses could keep once the salsa was gone. So I added a cute kitchen towel. I’ll link something similar below.

How to Make the Salsa

Salsa in Weck Jar

My mom makes the best salsa, and she gave me her recipe to share with y’all!

It’s fast and easy but super delicious!

Your friends are going to ask you to bring this to every party.

Homemade Salsa

This salsa recipe is easy and quick but fresh and delicious!
Prep Time20 minutes
Cook Time0 minutes
Course: Appetizer, Side Dish, Snack
Cuisine: American, Mexican
Keyword: fast recipe, salsa
Servings: 14

Equipment

  • 1 food processor or blender
  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 large spoon
  • 1 set of measuring spoons
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 knife
  • 1 measuring cup

  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2-3 jalapenos, chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup cilantro

Instructions

  • De-seed 2-3 jalapenos (depending on how spicy you want your salsa).
  • Unless you have a very large food processor, you'll want to make your salsa in batches.
  • Add the juice of 1 can of tomatoes to food processor.
  • Add salt, pepper, and jalapenos to juice in food processor.
  • Chop jalapenos to desired size.
  • Add back tomatoes to food processor and chop to desired size.
  • Pour contents of food processor in large bowl.
  • Add juice from second jar of tomatoes to food processor.
  • Add green onions and cilantro to juice and chop to desired size.
  • Add tomatoes from second jar to food processor and chop to desired size.
  • Add contents of food processor to bowl and mix with previous batch.
  • Store in refrigerator.

Notes

This salsa recipe is easy and quick but fresh and delicious!

To help you decide how much salsa to make for gift-giving: this recipe makes about 8 cups of salsa or 64 ounces. If you use the 12.5 ounce Weck jars, you’ll have enough to fill 5 jars!

Wrapping the Gift

Hostess Gift with Ribbon

I wrapped the salsa and suckers up in cellophane treat bags (linked below).

I tied the spoon onto the bag with cute yellow baker’s twine (linked below).

I rolled the kitchen towel up and tied it with matching twine.

I added a blue ribbon to the bag for extra decoration. I used this blue ribbon for all my wedding gift-giving because I thought it was very “something blue.” But the twine and ribbon would be fun to match to your wedding colors!

Personalizing the Gift

Hostess Gift Salsa

I ordered little personalized “thank you” tags that matched our wedding stationary and tied one on each gift.

Before I got these, I used a more generic “thank you” tag from Amazon that was super cute. I’ll link it below!
