valentine's day pizza

The Pizza

I made this pizza for a Valentine’s Day party, and it was a huge hit! Everyone went back for seconds! I chose to make this pizza recipe because it was adorable! But it also made the perfect party recipe!

Since I was cooking for quite a few people on a time crunch, I needed the pizza to be: quick, easy, and able to be made ahead.

I think this pizza would please your Valentine but is also super kid-friendly! It’s great for a party but would also make a perfect weeknight dinner at home!

It would be fun to make two–one with your favorite toppings and one with your partner’s!

If you’re spending your Valentine’s date night at home this year in quarantine because of the pandemic, this could be perfect!

Keyword: 30 minute recipe, date night recipe, easy recipe, pizza, valentine's day recipe, weeknight dinner
Servings: 4 people

Equipment

  • pizza pan (I used a heart-shaped cookie cake pan!)

Ingredients

  • 1 can pizza dough
  • 1 package shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 package shredded Italian cheese blend
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 jar pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil for brushing on crust
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt for brushing on crust

Instructions

  • Preheat oven as directed on pizza dough package.
  • Grease pan.
  • Shape dough to fit in pan creating slightly thicker edges.
  • Precook crust as directed on pizza dough package until just beginning to brown.
  • Mix olive oil and garlic powder and brush on edges of crust. (I like to add dried basil, black pepper, grated parmesan, and dried rosemary too!)
  • Add sauce, cheese, and toppings in desired amounts.
  • Bake again as directed on pizza dough package to melt cheese.
  • Cut and serve!

Suggestions and Substitutions:

The amount of cheese, sauce, and toppings you add is totally up to you! And you can customize the ingredients in any way you want! Change up the types of cheese, or pick a different sauce! Any pan or pizza stone will do!

If I did this again, I would cut the pepperonis into hearts with a cookie cutter.

If it’s not Valentine’s Day, just don’t use a heart-shaped pan! I do think this would be adorable in a Christmas tree pan, though!

This is a great pantry staple recipe too! If you want it to be even more shelf stable, you can use a crust mix instead of canned. Both are surprisingly tasty!

This recipe will wow your friends (or Valentine), and they’ll never know it’s only semi-homemade!
